MODORI.so Nihonbashi MIDORI.so Nihonbashi is a workspace where living and working seamlessly blend into one. Check in, and log in. You wake up with the morning light and brew a cup of coffee. In the quiet shared kitchen, you send an email while picking up where you left off yesterday. At night, you jot down an idea that came to you in bed. Here, life and work flow together naturally, moving at your own rhythm.As anthropologist Tim Ingold once said, there are two kinds of movement: “transport” and “wayfaring.” This place resembles wayfaring—a world where detours and meandering thoughts are welcomed.Working doesn’t have to mean reaching a goal as efficiently as possible. Sometimes, in the space between things, you encounter something unexpected that shifts your perspective. It’s in that gentle uncertainty that new ideas can be born. MIDORI.so Nihonbashi is neither just a hotel nor just a workspace. What begins at check-in is a slightly different way of engaging with work—freer, a bit more ambiguous, yet grounded. A place where you can move forward at your own pace.

About Located at MIDORI.so NAGATACHO, the “Engagement Space” is a space dedicated to deepening the bonds of community. It is designed as a place where people can intentionally gather in a real setting to strengthen connections in an age when the spread of remote working has diminished a sense of community togetherness and camaraderie. Unlike many school-style event spaces, the “engagement space” is designed to encourage natural communication. This makes it more than just a meeting or event; it deepens relationships among participants and creates opportunities for new connections and collaboration.

MODORI.so IKEJIRI MIDORI.so founder Teruo Kurosaki has led the transformation of Japan’s first school-redevelopment project, the “IID Setagaya Monozukuri School,” into a new multi-purpose facility called “HOME/WORK VILLAGE.” Centered around the theme of “facing social issues as homework for our generation, rather than passing them on to the next,” MIDORI.so Ikejiri is located within a space that utilizes former school facilities such as a library and schoolyard. 働き方の未来の実践としてシェアオフィスの運営をしているMIRAI INSTITUTEは、運営の核となり、運営拠点の醸成に関わるコミュニティオーガナイザーを募集しています。 MIRAI INSTITUTEとは 働き方の未来の実践としてシェアオフィス『MIDORI.so』の運営や、同じ思考でシェアオフィスの委託運営をしています。そして、自分たちの未来はどうあるべきか地に足をつけて全身で考え、考えるだけでなく実際に社会に働きかけるための組織です。よりよい未来をつくるためには他者への想像力を自身の創造力に変えながらひとり一人がよりよい生き方を追求すること。そして、よりよい生き方を実現するためにはまず働き方を変えることが近道だと考えます。一人ひとりのよい働きの連鎖が世界を善い方向に変えていくと信じて運営をしています。 現在、MIDORI.soの運営を5拠点、シェアオフィスの運営委託を7拠点展開しています。今後も新拠点の開業を予定しています。その他、働くにまつわる書籍の出版やイベント企画運営を行っています。

The ivy-covered facade of MIDORI.so Nakameguro stands apart from the surrounding polished Aobadai neighbourhood. At first glance, this mysterious contrast can raise suspicion from outsiders. To those curious enough to step inside however, its lush exterior is symbolic of the brimming creative energy people within. In many ways, it’s a place that plays with such contrasts and helps expand perspectives. Two international members talk to us about how MIDORI.so shifted their experiences of Tokyo and notions of working culture. What makes MIDORI.so feel special for you?

When sakura buds start dotting the trees around Tokyo, this precursor of spring isn’t just a reminder for us to dust fans and dig out airy cotton tops from the back of the closet. At MIDORI.so, it means that we will soon be greeted with Noël’s big bear hug, hear his bright “ohayo” in the morning, and chat over caramel lattes after community lunch. As a longstanding member of the community, he has witnessed it evolve, but maintain its role as a central node in the creative community. He shares how it has influenced not just his experience of Tokyo, but his social world and international lifestyle. How did you find out about MIDORI.so around a decade ago?

地元兵庫県豊岡で家業のアパレル2店舗を経営しながら、CIRCLE&LINEとして輸入卸事業を生業とする和田良太さん。CIRCLE&LINEでは、ロサンゼルス発のフレグランスブランドP.F.CANDLEをメインに、インディペンデント性の高いクラフトプロダクトを海外から輸入し、各セレクトショップに卸したり、バイヤー向けの展示会に出店やイベントでPOPUPや自社ECサイトで販売をしている。 海外留学ゼロ、サブカルチャーど真ん中の学生時代を歩んだ和田さんが、なぜ海外のクラフトプロダクトを販売するようになったのか。話をする中で、自身をふらふらと生きていると表現する和田さんではあるが、そうは言っても自分の指針を持って生き、自身も含め人それぞれが持つ「物語」を大切にしている、と感じる。クラフトプロダクトを通して、この世界のどこかで懸命に自分たちのやりたいことを表現する人々の物語を伝える和田さんの「働くとは？」 ———–
