Humans naturally work in a way that is 'omoshiroi'. This might translate as 'funny' or 'interesting' in English, but the original meaning of 'omoshiroi' is that feeling when the face lights up, symbolizing a moment of understanding or solution.

Work can be centered around what is omoshiroi.

In ancient Rome, there were slaves and free people. Both dressed the same, but the difference was that free people could decide what to do each day, while slaves had things decided for them. In Japanese society, following the traditional path of graduating from a good school and joining a prestigious company can sometimes feel like self-imposed servitude. For many, work has become about solving problems given to them by others.

At MIDORI.so, we aim to break that fixed perception, creating a place where people can work, eat, and laugh together. When you're enjoying yourself, wisdom flows naturally. For freelancers and employees alike, work should be interesting, free, and fun. We're designing not just workspaces for individuals to enjoy their work but also spaces and situations where they can connect and collaborate, helping each other soar into the future.

What we do — For business
Mirai

The MIRAI Institute was founded in response to the realization that working solely for monetary gain, particularly after the 2008 Lehman Shock, was not enough. This insight was further deepened by recognizing our connection to nature following the 2011 Great East Japan Earthquake. At MIRAI Institute, we strive to consider and shape what our future should be, fully engaging with the world around us. Changing how we work is a crucial step toward this goal. We are committed to the idea that a ripple effect of meaningful work can drive positive change in the world.
