A Work & Stay Tour Across Two Faces of Tokyo
Explore two contrasting sides of Tokyo — the lively downtown neighborhood of Higashi-Nihonbashi and Tokyo’s only village, Hinohara.
This work & stay tour takes you between the city’s vibrant bustle and a lifestyle rooted in nature and the changing seasons, gently blurring the line between “working” and “living.”
Based at MIDORI.so Nihonbashi for the city experience, and immersed in the nature and culture of Hinohara Village, this 4-night, 5-day journey will bring a fresh shift to your senses and thinking.
Schedule
September 10 (Wed) – 14 (Sun), 2025｜4 Nights / 5 Days
DAY 1｜Sep 10 (Wed)
- Arrive at MIDORI.so Nihonbashi (Check-in: 15:00–22:00)
- Welcome coffee or beer to kick off the trip and meet your fellow travelers
DAY 2｜Sep 11 (Thu)
- Community lunch at MIDORI.so Bakuroyokoyama
- Connect with workers from diverse nationalities, industries, and ages
DAY 3｜Sep 12 (Fri)
- Start the day with Japanese-style morning radio exercise
- Explore local cafés and shops nearby
DAY 4｜Sep 13 (Sat)
- Travel individually to Hinohara Village (reference: Google Maps)
- Make jam with freshly harvested rhubarb & enjoy a sweet break
- Enjoy the village’s summer festival and traditional lion dance in the evening
- 🛏 Stay: Village Hinohara (mixed dormitory)
DAY 5｜Sep 14 (Sun)
- Refresh yourself by washing your face in the river
- Stop by souvenir shops before returning to the city at your own pace

- Accommodation:
- MIDORI.so Nihonbashi (3-9-1 Higashi-Nihonbashi, Chuo-ku, Tokyo)
- Village Hinohara (790-2 Honshuku, Hinohara-mura, Nishitama-gun, Tokyo)
Both accommodations are mixed dormitory style

- Tour languages: Japanese & English
- Included in the fee: 4 nights’ accommodation, activity fees, welcome drink on DAY 1, lunch on DAY 2, jam-making experience on DAY 4
- Not included in the fee: transportation, meals (except those listed above), travel insurance, personal expenses
- Transportation between MIDORI.so Nihonbashi and Village Hinohara is self-arranged (recommended routes will be shared after booking)
- Meals are generally not included; kitchen use for self-cooking is available upon request
- A river flows near Village Hinohara — if you’d like to swim or play in the water, bring swimwear and a change of clothes
- Travel insurance is required; please arrange it individually
- For those joining only the Village Hinohara portion of the tour, please contact info@villaging.jp
- Up to 7 days before: Full refund
- 6 to 2 days before: 50% of participation fee
- 1 day before to the day of: 100% of participation fee
- No-show (without notice): 100% of participation fee
